The principal aim of Acupuncture is to recover equilibrium between the physical emotional and spiritual aspects of the individual. Although the treatment may focus on specific symptoms presented, it also reaches the stratum of being, which has an effect on the general well-being of each of us.
Acupuncture was originally a preventative medicine and practice. Acupuncturists were not paid when the patient was ill, but only paid while the patient was well and healthy! This of course came from the idea that illness was not economically viable, globally, socially or personally as it is today.
A good acupuncturist will see you regularly until you reach a 'preventative treatment' a point of 'well being' and from there you will be seen at the change of seasons for 'fine tuning'.
